Über dieses Modell
GZ Piping is a modular 3d printed piping and structural frame system designed for building custom desk frames, supports, cable-management structures, shelving, enclosures and other maker projects. The system is based around 55mm OD hollow printed pipe combined with modular joints, sleeves, collars and connectors. I originally designed GZ Piping to replace the rear legs of my desk and give me a framework that could continue upward for future additions. The completed lower frame now supports the desk while also giving me a foundation for cable routing, glass panel mounts, shelves and other modular accessories. Current Parts The initial release includes components such as: Straight 55mm pipe sections- 90* floor/corner joints- Vertical connectors- Female joining sleeves- Alignment and joining components- Structural collars- Base/foot connectors- Modular corner pieces The system is designed so additional components can be added without redesigning the entire structure. Modular Design Most of the system uses hollow pipe sections with separate connectors rather that printing one enormous structure. This means sections can be: Replaced individually- Extended- Reconfigured- Printed in different materials or colours- Used as internal cable channels- Combined into much larger structures My desk build uses roughly 1 meter horizontal runs assembled from smaller printable sections. Cable Management The hollow pipe sections can also be used as concealer cable channels. My desk version includes access p[points and removable sections so wiring can be routed through the frame rather than hanging behind the desk. Printing My prototype system was printed primarily in PLA. Typical pipe section: Outer Diameter: 55mm Typical length: 220mm The parts were designed around ordinary FDM printing and modular assembly rather that requiring large build plates. Because this is a structural system, print settings should be chosen for the load and application you intend to use it for. Assembly Individual pipe sections slide into the appropriate sleeves/connectors and can be permanently bonded if desired. Some joints use internal alignment features to keep adjoining sections positioned correctly. I recommend initially dry-fitting the entire structure before permanently attaching anything. What I'm Building With it The first full-scale application is my custom desk frame Future GZ Piping components are planned for: Above-desk uprights- Glass panel frames- Desk risers- Shelf supports- LED mounting- Internal cable-routing- Wall/floor attachment- Conduit-style installations- Additional 3-way and 4-way joints I'll add compatible components as the system develops. Important This is a 3d printed structural system, not certified building pipe, pressure pipe, plumbing, electrical conduit or safety-rated structural hardware Use appropriate materials and engineering judgment for your application. if you build something with GZ Piping, I'd love to see what systems turns into outside of my own desk build.
