Informazioni su questo modello
In Europe, Asian hornets are a real problem for beekeeping. Velushield is a system that prevents hornets from putting pressure on the hive, thereby preventing the attacks that usually follow. Quick Start : An Asian hornet hovers in front of the hive's entrance, causing stress and reducing the hive's production. With Velushield, the goal is to reduce this stress, which prevents hornets from weakening the colony. The hornet attacks the bee when it slows down in front of the hive entrance. The Velushield system is based on a simple principle: the bee slows down inside a tube—a controlled environment—so it is in no danger. How it works : Velushield consists of five parts: - A base that should fit any Dadant hive - Two removable tubes - Two caps located at the ends of the tubes. The covers have holes or slits of very specific sizes, so that hornets cannot get through. The tube allows the bee to slow down without fear of an attack by hornets. The tubes are removable, so they can be easily taken off during periods when there are no hornets. In addition, the tubes alone serve as an excellent deterrent effect against hornets. The base is designed to be sturdy; it can be easily attached to the hive with two long nails. Key Features : The covers come in different sizes, so you can print several and try them out to see which one works best for your needs. The covers help prevent hornets from entering the tubes. The slit design makes it easier for bees to enter than a simple hole, according to the feedback I’ve received. Assembly: The covers simply clip into place inside the tubes. The tubes screw into the base. Attach the base to the entrance of your hive. Print Settings : Since this is intended for outdoor use, I recommend printing it with at least PETG; I recommend ABS or ASA. I printed it with Prusament PETG on my Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 (0.4 nozzle), and I'm very pleased with the result and the print quality. I printed the base this way because, given its internal geometry, it seemed like the best approach. However, I recommend using PLA supports if you can, especially for the screw thread. I printed the supports in PETG, and by setting the Z-distance to 0.3 mm, they came off without too much effort, and the threaded hole works perfectly. I haven't received enough feedback on this project for my liking, and I'd be delighted if anyone could give me some feedback on how well Velushield works. I'd also appreciate any advice, suggestions, makes, pictures or ideas for improvement.. Feel free to share them ! Thank you, and happy printing.
